🌱 Our Founding Story

Flourixa was founded after recognizing a persistent and growing gap in the mental wellness space: the tools that existed were either too clinical, too expensive, or too inaccessible for everyday people, and almost nothing was built specifically for the workplace.

With 76% of employees reporting workplace stress and most organizations lacking scalable, confidential mental wellness infrastructure, the opportunity was clear. FriendJo was built to address this gap directly, combining the accessibility of an AI companion with the depth of an enterprise wellbeing platform.

The result is a product that works for a student needing someone to talk to at midnight, and an HR team trying to support 500 employees across a distributed workforce.

FriendJo was founded by an entrepreneur with a personal conviction that AI should be used to strengthen human connection, not replace it.

Driven by first-hand experience with workplace stress and the lack of accessible mental wellness support, the founder independently built the entire FriendJo platform from the ground up, from concept to a fully functioning B2C and B2B SaaS product, demonstrating that determination and vision can overcome the absence of formal technical credentials.

Flourixa Technologies Inc. is a founder-led company based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with active plans to grow the technical team, including a planned hire of a machine learning engineer to advance the platform's emotionally adaptive AI capabilities.

FriendJo Consumer Platform: AI companion app for individuals, 6 unique personalities, voice conversation, 24/7 availability, free to start.
FriendJo for Organizations: Enterprise SaaS platform built around a clear principle: the personal data belongs to the employee, not the employer. Leaders get the Wellbeing Intelligence Suite, ten organization-level reports (Emotional Climate, Burnout Risk, Resilience, Psychological Safety, Culture Drift, and more) generated only from aggregated, anonymous signals when at least four active members are present. Each employee gets their own optional, private weekly reflection visible only to them, with a one-click opt-out that hard-deletes every signal we hold. Powered by OAuth integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom that collect behavioral metadata only and never read the contents of emails, Slack messages, or meeting recordings.
Emotionally Adaptive AI: Ongoing R&D into personality architecture, emotional context layering, and wellbeing sentiment analysis, purpose-built for human emotional support at scale. Our emotion classification system is grounded in four validated occupational health frameworks (PERMA, JD-R, WHO-5, ISO 45003) with 37 peer-reviewed citations, and internal testing shows 96.7% convergence with the PHQ-4 clinical screening instrument and 100% accuracy on an OSMI-equivalent distress detection benchmark. Formal academic validation with the University of Calgary is underway.
PIPEDA-Compliant Infrastructure: Privacy-first design, role-based access control, end-to-end encryption, and Canadian data governance built into the platform core.
